'Tis the Season to Give Back

Making a difference for United Way in Des Moines and Austin

Each year Merchants Bonding Company and its associates give back to the local communities in a variety of ways, particularly through their partnership with United Way. The holiday season provides a great opportunity to help those in need, and December 2010 has been no exception.

In the Austin office, Merchants associates presented Steve Geiser, campaign associate from the United Way Capital Area, with their 2010 contribution check on December 7. Each office member participated in at least one of the interoffice fundraising activities throughout the year. The Austin United Way Committee includes Audrey Williams, Jo Ann Lugo, Jenny Mosser, and Damon Wagner.

Generous contributions from Des Moines associates, combined with a corporate matching donation, allowed the main office’s committee to sponsor a Christmas/pizza party for the children at Orchard Place on December 14. Each of the 10 resident children received two gifts and, for an hour or so, experienced some extra joy in this holiday season. The Des Moines United Way Committee includes Mike McKee, Amanda Brunkhorst, Seth Doup, Terry Frederick, Ryan Hanks, Keith Harris, Connie Mendenhall, and Heather Todavich.
