Production Underwriter, Des Moines, IA

This position will be responsible for national travel (50%) with the purpose of producing commercial bond programs and soliciting commercial business. Will also be responsible for less time sensitive underwriting duties such as underwriting renewals and underwriting opinions.

Requires ability/willingness to travel nationally (50%) to agencies and prospects for soliciting commercial bond business and programs. Requires 4 year business degree, finance or accounting (prior work experience in the insurance or bond industry preferred but not necessary).

Web Application Developer, Des Moines, IA

This position will use Ruby on Rails to assist in the re-architecture of web applications to integrate with existing applications.   The Web Application Developer will work with other IT team members and business stakeholders to analyze, design, develop, test, document, and implement new and existing web applications to meet ongoing software development needs.

The Web Application Developer should be able to employ agile development methodologies such as pair programming, test first development and short iterations cycles.    Make certain the web applications meet business requirements, follow development standards, and maintain data integrity.

Job Qualifications

• Two plus years of web programming experience  with Ruby on Rails or desire to learn Ruby on Rails
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with version control system GitHub
• Test-driven development with RSpec
• Experience with back-end SQL database integration, MySQL experience is a plus
• Excellent organization and communication skills 
• Four year degree or equivalent work experience

Contract Underwriter Assistant

This position will support a team of contract underwriters by providing customer service to the agents in the team’s assigned region(s).  This position will also manage and maintain account files and process billings. 

Preferred candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and general office skills, preferably in a paperless environment.   Must be detail oriented and possess strong communication and organizational skills.  Candidates with experience in surety bonds or P&C insurance are preferred.

Contract Bond Underwriter - Dallas, TX

Our underwriters determine the acceptability of surety risks based on our guidelines and marketing strategy, build premium and business opportunities with key agents and accounts by maintaining positive agency relationships, prospect for and develop new business opportunities and contribute to a profitable surety operation.  Our staff also has the opportunity to work with some of the most knowledgeable and experienced senior underwriters in the Surety Industry.  This position is located in our Dallas, Texas office and would travel about 10% of the time.  We would prefer candidates from the Dallas metro area and/or the Texas-Oklahoma region. 

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing or a similar discipline plus 2-3 years of experience in the surety industry.  Candidates should also have equal abilities in analysis and relationship building. Knowledge of the construction industry would be a plus.
