• Accounts are NOT alike - Merchants Bonding expertise in surety comes from our singular focus on this industry for more than seven decades.  We have a deep understanding of underwriting considerations and one thing is clear.  No two accounts are alike.  We are fiercely committed to reviewing each case on its own merits.  Merchants does NOT use an inflexible formula. 
• Net worth is Key - Merchants considers many factors, including working capital during underwriting analysis, but our emphasis is on net worth because we believe it is the best reflection of a company's past success and future potential.
• Character Counts - Merchants places significance on the personal character and net worth of business owners.  In each case, we consider personal net worth, personal credit and significant personal events.
• Intangibles -  Bank references, owner and supplier references, length of time in business are intangibles that can all offer insight into a principal's character and credit worthiness.
