Contract Underwriting Announces Structure Update

Merchants Bonding Company's™ steady growth and expansion has career opportunities in contract underwriting taking center stage as we round out another successful year. 


Effective January 1, Merchants will start consolidating territories into multiple regions. The following promotions and title changes will take place for several associates in the contract underwriting department. 


West Region 

Doug Schnicker will be promoted to Regional Vice President, overseeing the newly formed West Region. The West Region includes Merchants' offices in Phoenix, Seattle and Denver. Doug has served as Assistant Vice President and team leader for 12 years, and has been with Merchants since beginning his surety career in 1995. 


Terry Bricker will be promoted to Director of Contract Underwriting, serving a portion of the West Region. Assistant Vice President Chris Bachman, Contract Underwriting Manager Joel Hertzog and Senior Contract Underwriter Nicole Grimm will continue to lead the Phoenix, Seattle and Denver offices respectively. 


Northeast Region 

Ed Sipfle will be promoted to Regional Vice President, overseeing the Northeast Region. The Northeast Region includes Merchants' offices in Chicago and Cleveland. Ed has been with Merchants since 2005 and is a surety expert with nearly 30 years spent in the industry. 


Mike Reed will be promoted to Director of Contract Underwriting, serving a portion of the Northeast Region. Contract Underwriting Manager Ben Albertson and Senior Contract Underwriter Chad Teague will continue to lead the Chicago and Cleveland offices respectively. 


Executive

With this department expansion, Josh Penwell will be named Senior Vice President Contract Underwriting and Jason Dettbarn will be named Vice President Contract Underwriting. Josh and Jason will continue to lead the contract underwriting department.
