Bill Warner Sr. Memorial Charity Golf Classic

March 23, 2018

Now in its 10th year, the Merchants Bonding Company Foundation is hosting its 5th Bill Warner Sr. Memorial Charity Golf Classic on September 24. The impact of the biennial Golf Classic has grown immensely over the years, raising a total of $465,000 for local charities. This year we are giving the gift of hope to those with disabilities and special needs through Easterseals Iowa.

Remember Bill Warner Sr.

The first Golf Classic was held in 2010 in honor of Bill Warner Sr., father of Merchants’ Chief Operating Office Bill Warner, Jr. Bill Sr. held many roles during his 30-year career at Merchants, becoming President in 1985 and Chairman of the Board in 1993. Bill loved Merchants, but his real passion was sports; and he was especially fond of golf. Bill passed away of cancer in June of 2000.

Support Easterseals Iowa

For more than 80 years, Easterseals Iowa has been supporting individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, to live independent lives. Easterseals offers a variety of services, from an integrated child development center and respite programs to assistive technology and job training, which provide support for those with disabilities as they work through life’s challenges and achieve personal goals. All funds raised at the 2018 Golf Classic will go towards purchasing accessible vans to support the Life Club and Supported Community Living programs of Easterseals Iowa.

We have received overwhelming support through the years from agents, vendors and friends, and the Golf Classic has quickly become a favorite among participants. Here’s what they are saying:

“First class as always!”

“I don’t think I’ve been to a nicer event. Great job!”

“Such a great event. It was the perfect way to honor my old friend Bill Sr.”
