The Community Outreach Council (COC) and Merchants Bonding Company Foundation presented a check for $12,000 to our beneficiary for 2013, Holding Tiny Hands, during a recent associate luncheon. Corporate Secretary Bill Warner gave a recap of the COC's fundraising efforts over the past year. President and Founder of Holding Tiny Hands, Bob Selby, accepted the check on behalf of the organization.
"This would not have happened without Margaret Heasley, who had a child that was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She approached the COC and suggested putting on a couple of events for our organization, and the committee decided to adopt us as their charity of choice for the year. It's been phenomenal," said Selby.
Selby told the group that for a charity the size of Holding Tiny Hands, there isn't a lot of overhead, so the donation from Merchants Bonding will go a long, long way. "It's amazing to us to see our fundraising that we put on as an organization reach a couplehundred dollars here and a couple hundred dollars there. We can really make that money work, and it serves families directly. But the money you raised is really going to impact a lot of lives. It is very humbling for us, and we are really excited because we know what the gift is going to do. We truly appreciate the efforts of all of you. God bless you all for this!" said Selby.
