On April 10, 2015, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner issued Bulletin 2015-08, declaring DeKalb and Ogle counties state disaster areas after severe storms and tornados affected areas of Rochelle and Fairdale. As a result of this disaster in the State of lllinois, insurance consumers may experience disruption of mail delivery and displacement from their residences, businesses, and other properties.
Effective immediately, Merchants Bonding Company™ will be instating the following actions to aid consumers affected by this disaster:
In compliance with Bulletin 2015-08, the commercial bond department will grant to principals in DeKalb and Ogle counties a moratorium on cancellations and non-renewals issued on or after April 9, 2015 on any bond issued to an affected principal. All cancellations and non-renewals are reinstated without lapse in coverage. No further cancellations or non-renewals shall be made until June 9, 2015 for principals in the affected areas.
In compliance with Bulletin 2015-08, the claims department will grant to principals and claimants in DeKalb and Ogle counties an extension of any and all requirements that impose a time limit to perform any act, including submitting a new claim or proof of claim, providing supporting documentation, or paying funds. This extension shall be for 60 days from the last date allowed or required under the terms of any bond or contract or otherwise allowed by Merchants or longer if deemed reasonable given an individual’s circumstances.
