Remembering Bill Warner, Sr.
Bill Warner, Sr. worked for Merchants Bonding Company from 1970 to 2000. He became President of Merchants in 1985 and Chairman of the Board in 1993. He passed away of cancer in June of 2000. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and supported Louisiana State University athletics ever since his enrollment in 1966. Bill loved Merchants, but his real passion was sports, specifically golf. Bill played on his high school golf team, qualified for and played in two National Amateur tournaments, was a medalist in the Iowa State Amateur, and was a past club champion in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was a member at the Wakonda Club for many years.
