FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Merchants Bonding Company™ presented a check for $125,000 to Blank Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) today. The money was raised at the Bill Warner Sr. Memorial Charity Golf Classic on Monday, September 22 at Wakonda Club. The charity golf event brought 192 golfers from 26 states to Des Moines to help raise money for three critical pieces of equipment Blank needs for its NICU.
“Raising money for the NICU is very personal to us. Five Merchants associates have had babies in the NICU in the past two years,” said Bill Warner Jr., corporate secretary. “All four of my children were cared for in the NICU and my son had to be airlifted to Iowa City because of equipment Blank did not have. My son didn’t survive and we wanted to make sure other children will have everything they need right here in Des Moines. We truly believe this money will help save lives.”
David Stark, President and C.O.O. of Blank Children’s Hospital, said, “This money will help us purchase a giraffe bed, a jet pulse ventilator and a neonatal transporter. The dollars raised by this wonderful event will directly impact our tiniest patients through the addition of much-needed specialized equipment.”
“We are very grateful to all of the volunteers, sponsors and participants,” said Merchants Bonding Company president, Larry Taylor. “We started the foundation to make a difference in our community and we are thrilled to be able to present this check today.”
