CA Bulletin

The partial shutdown of the federal government is adversely impacting many California residents. The California Insurance Commissioner is requesting that all insurance organizations doing business in the State to make reasonable accommodations to prevent those impacted by the federal shutdown from losing coverage due to non-payment of premium, meeting underwriting guidelines, or having their insurance claims delayed or denied due to missed policy deadlines. Read the full bulletin here.

VT Bulletin

During the government shutdown, many federal employees are either furloughed or are deemed essential and working without pay. The financial impact of a prolonged shutdown will spread beyond just federal workers to include other Vermonters as well. This Bulletin provides notice to entities regulated by the Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) that on October 24, 2025, DFR issued a press release urging individuals experiencing financial hardship due to the shutdown to proactively reach out to DFR-regulated entities, and to discuss their options to avoid penalties, fees, cancellations, or defaults. Read the full bulletin here.

DE Bulletin

The Delaware Department of Insurance (Department) recognizes the financial hardship the government shutdown may cause for federal employees and contractors residing in Delaware. While back pay may eventually be issued, the immediate impact on household budgets can be significant. Accordingly, the Department urges all carriers to implement temporary accommodations to protect affected policyholders from lapses in coverage due to non-payment of premiums. Read the full bulletin here.

NV Bulletin

As the federal government shutdown continues to affect workers across Nevada, the Division of Insurance is calling on insurance carriers to work proactively with policyholders who may experience temporary financial hardship due to the shutdown. Carriers have been asked to grant grace periods or provide flexible payment options to help policyholders avoid cancellations, lapses in coverage, or late fees until the impacts of the shutdown can be resolved. Read the full bulletin here.

OR Bulletin

This bulletin encourages insurance companies, health care service contractors, and other entities regulated under the Oregon Insurance Code to take active measures to help individuals affected by the federal government shutdown, including but not limited to federal employees subject to furlough or required to work without pay. This includes providing grace periods and flexible options for payments, fees and deadlines, as well as providing proactive customer service to affected policyholders. Read the full bulletin here.

CO Bulletin

The ongoing federal government shutdown has resulted in almost 57,000 federal employees and their families in Colorado being threatened with furloughs or being forced to work without pay. The purpose of this Bulletin is to urge carriers to take actions to avoid cancellations, lapses in coverage or late fees for federal employees affected by the federal shutdown. Read the full bulletin here.

MD Bulletin

The partial shutdown of the federal government is adversely impacting many Maryland residents. The Maryland Insurance Administration is encouraging all carriers doing business in the State to stand in solidarity with our residents and local businesses by making reasonable accommodations to prevent those impacted by the partial federal shutdown from losing coverage due to non-payment of premium. The Insurance Administration is urging carriers to consider, among other things, deferring premium payments, extending grace periods, accepting partial payment(s), and waiving late fees and penalties that would normally be owed as a result of a late payment.  Read the full bulletin here.

AZ Bulletin

On September 27, 2025 Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs issued a Declaration of Emergency following the heavy rains that severely impacted Gila County and its communities. The heavy rains that began on September 25, 2025 have caused severe financial challenges for individuals and businesses in Gila County. The Department requests that insurers operating in Gila County assist all affected policyholders and be mindful of the difficulties individuals and businesses in Gila County are experiencing. Read the full bulletin here.

CT Bulletin

Many Connecticut residents are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the continuing federal government shutdown. In response to this disruption, Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Andrew N. Mais requests that all Connecticut licensed insurance companies work proactively with policyholders experiencing temporary financial hardship due to the shutdown to keep essential insurance policies in place. Specifically, Commissioner Mais requests that all insurance companies provide policyholders who are federal workers affected by the shutdown with at least a 60-day grace period to pay insurance premiums or other flexible payment options. Read the full bulletin here.

TX Bulletin

Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration in response to the July Hill Country flooding. Damage and evacuations caused by the disaster have displaced people from their homes and jobs. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) expects insurers and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) to work with their policyholders as they recover from the disaster. Read the full bulletin here.
