Merchants Announces Headquarters Expansion

Merchants Bonding Company is expanding its national headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa, with a 30,000 square foot addition, nearly a decade after moving into its current facility in 2015.

Since moving into the building, Merchants has experienced consistent growth in both its national footprint and its Iowa-based workforce. The home office staff has grown from approximately 116 associates in 2015 to 160 today, with plans to hire at least 35 more over the next three years.

Fueled by sustained, profitable growth, with more than 30 satellite offices added across the country in the past decade, Merchants is investing further in its Iowa headquarters, where the majority of operations reside. The expansion will support the addition of high-paying positions in key areas including Information Technology, Underwriting, Marketing, and Finance.

“Our growth has been steady and strategic, and this expansion ensures we have the space and infrastructure to support our continued momentum,” said Larry Taylor, Chairman of the Board and President. “West Des Moines and regional economic development partners have been vital in helping us attract and retain top talent, and we look forward to continuing that partnership as we grow.”

Groundbreaking for the new addition is expected in late summer 2025.
