Sr. Application Developer and Marine Veteran Nate Dalo participated in a unique Memorial Day tradition, completing the Murph Challenge in 39 minutes 19 seconds.
The Murph Challenge is a Crossfit “Hero Workout of the Day” tribute to Medal of Honor recipient Michael Murphy who died in combat in 2005 in Afghanistan. The workout is a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, then a second 1-mile run. It was said to be Murphy’s favorite workout and is often done with a 20-pound vest.
“It’s a tough little workout, but it’s a way to dedicate a little bit of pain and sweat not only in honor of Michael Murphy, but to everyone who has died in combat,” says Nate.
Nate served six years in the United States Marine Corps and dedicated his workout to Sergeant Michael C. Roy and Captain Joshua S. Meadows – two Marines he served with in Afghanistan who were killed in action.
