Merchants Bonding Hosts Festival Tree to Benefit Children’s Hospital

November 25, 2020

Merchants Bonding Company is a host location for the 2020 Festival of Trees & Lights Scavenger Hunt benefiting Blank Children’s Hospital. From November 25 through January 31, families can ‘hunt’ for 14 beautifully decorated trees located throughout the Des Moines metro.

Visitors to Merchants Bonding will discover an “Around the Rainbow” themed tree decorated by Des Moines Area Oncology Moms.  “A rainbow is a symbol of hope; a reason to believe that the thunder of heartbreak and the lightening of pain will be equally met with the soft hues of pink, yellow, blue, green and violet to offer the comfort of healing and the promise of tomorrow,” says the group. The colorful tree features 129 ornaments with the initials of children who are currently in treatment, have undergone treatment or are now angels. In addition to the tree, yard signs for each child have been placed on Merchants’ lawn to put a face with a name and bring awareness to childhood cancer.

To participate in the scavenger hunt and other holiday activities, download the Festival of Trees & Lights app through Google Play or the Apple Store. The cost of the app is $5 and all proceeds will benefit Blank Children’s Hospital to support valuable programs that would not be possible without the vital support of our community. Donations can also be made through the virtual auction site: The auction closes at noon on Sunday, November 29.
