Merchants’ Contribution Helps Over 290 Small Businesses
October 6, 2020
In May Merchants Bonding Company announced its contribution to the Small Business Recovery Grant that was launched to help small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, $1.7 million has been awarded to over 290 small businesses around the Des Moines area.
“Merchants Bonding Company is proud to be a part of this effort during COVID-19,” said Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Therese Wielage. “Giving back to our communities is one of Merchants’ core values. Associates have donated to the food bank, volunteered, made masks, and this donation to help small businesses isn’t any different.”
A limited amount of funds through the Small Business Recovery Grant have still gone unawarded and those funds are being dedicated to restaurants. The “Extend the Season” grant will support area restaurants by providing outdoor heating equipment to help extend the existing outdoor seating season. This grant is open to Members of the Greater Des Moines Partnership and its 24 Affiliate Chambers of Commerce.
