Merchants Receives Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award
June 22, 2023
Merchants Bonding Company is proud to receive the Governor’s Volunteer Award for our efforts on behalf of Hawthorn Hill in 2022. Hawthorn Hill, whose mission is to help families with children transition out of homelessness, was Merchants’ focus charity for 2022. Throughout the year, Merchants hosted events to raise money which helped with items such as apartment application fees, rent/deposits, utility bills, transportation, and clothing.
On June 15th, Governor Kim Reynolds presented the award to Merchants and praised all award recipients for their dedicated commitment to making Iowa a better place to live.
Started in 1978 by Governor Robert D. Ray, Volunteer Iowa (originally the Iowa Office of Volunteerism), recognizes those helping to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. Now in its 39th year, Volunteer Iowa has recognized thousands of volunteers through these awards.
