Merchants Interns Awarded SFAA Scholarships

September 13, 2021

Four of Merchants’ 2021 summer interns were awarded a $5,000 scholarship by The Surety Foundation. Marketing Intern Christian Jackson, Human Resource Intern Aleah Vaske, Applications Development Intern Izan Ahmed and Contract Intern Alberto Stadhagen each received the scholarship, which aims to help students with educational costs following a completed internship. This is the third year in a row that Merchants interns have been selected for this scholarship.

“Merchants is proud to have four of our summer interns receive this scholarship,” says Vice President of Human Resources Stacey Cale. “They were amazing this summer and we wish them well in their future careers. We know they’ll do well!”

Seventeen scholarships were awarded this year on behalf of The Surety Foundation, the largest number of scholarships awarded in the history of the program.

The Surety & Fidelity Industry Intern and Scholarship Program for Underrepresented Students (SFIISP) provides scholarships to underrepresented students to support their studies in the areas of insurance/risk management, accounting, economics, or business/finance. The program is administered by The Surety Foundation, the educational arm of the Surety & Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), and is meant to encourage students’ consideration of the surety industry and surety/fidelity underwriting as a career choice.
